Hwo to Fix Nexus 6P stuck at Android N beta OTA update bootloop

$

nexus 6p fix

It’s being reported by several Nexus 6P users that upon installing the Android N beta update, the device fails to reboot normally after that. Well, here’s fix to unbrick any nexus 6P, whether tat’s caused by OTA installation or any other reason.

The bug has been acknowledged by the Android Team too as Issue 210381, as it’s been already assigned and being looked into. Various users reported that after downloading and installing the OTA update of N, the device gets stuck at bootloader screen when restarting. For some very unlucky users, even the Factory Reset and Cache Wipe isn’t helping.

If you own a Nexus 6P and are stuck while installing the latest OTA update, then here’s how to fix your Nexus 6P.

Solution 1: Try Factory Reset

It’s simple, and if it works, then you don’t need Solution 2, which should work in every case, but is pretty lengthy process. To factory reset the device, first power off your Nexus 6P and then when the screen goes off, press and hold Volume Down + Power until you see anything on screen.

You will be in fastboot mode in a matter of seconds. Now, use Volume buttons to bring up Recovery option, and then press power button to select it.

When in recovery mode, select the option Wipe data/factory reset, confirm it on next screen, and then wait for it to finish. Once done, select the option ‘reboot system now’. The device should restart alright now. If not, do Solution 2 below.

Solution 2: Install Marshmallow firmware

Download the firmware for your Nexus 6P (codename Angler) from here. Then follow the guide below.

Step 1. Make sure you’ve the proper USB driver installed. See here for help.

Step 2. Also make sure you’ve ADB driver installed and properly working, it’s very important to have this. Click here for help.

Step 3. Unlock bootloader of your Nexus device, if you haven’t done this already. Help is here.

Step 4. Extract the factory image file you downloaded above, using a free software like 7-zip on your PC. You should get flash-all.bat file. If not, then extract again.

Step 5. Disconnect your Nexus device from PC if it’s connected.

Step 6. Boot your Nexus device into bootloader/fastboot mode:

  • Power off the device.
  • Press and hold both Volume Down and Power button together until you see anything on screen. Fastboot should be written at top.

Step 7. Connect your Nexus device to PC now using USB cable.

Step 8. Double click the flash-all.bat file on Windows — it’s in the folder where you extracted all contents of the downloaded file.

  • If you’re in Linux or Mac, use this command in terminal: sh ./flash-all.sh

That’s it. Once all files installed, your Nexus device will have the MRA58K build running.

Let us know if you face any difficulty with this.

droid turbo 2 charging issue fix

Verizon released a new OTA update today for its Motorola Droid Turbo 2 to fix the charging problems with the device on Android 6.0 Marshmallow update that came out earlier.

The update carries the software version of SU1.75B: 24.14.16.kinzie_verizon.verizon.en.US, while the previous update to this one is SU1A: 23.31.24.kinzie_verizon.verizon.en.US.

If you are experiencing the charging bug on your Droid Turbo 2 too, then go ahead and install this update right away. Verizon kept the update’s size to themselves, but it should be a huge update anyway. Even your data would do for this download.

Do let us know whether the latest update fully fixes the charging issue with your Droid Turbo 2 or not.

OnePlus 3 OxygenOS 3.0.2 OTA download

Well, as OnePlus has promised earlier, the 3.2.0 update of the OxygenOS is now currently rolling out as an OTA, and it does fixes many glaring issues with the devices — yes, it brings the sRGB mode, too!

Luckily, the OxygenOS 3.2.0 update for OnePlus 3 is also available for download, so that you can install it manually without waiting for the OnePlus team to deliver it at your device, which could take days if not weeks.

As for the changelog, here’s all that it packs, and it’s so good.

  • Enabled sRGB mode in developer options.
  • Improved RAM management.
  • Improved GPS performance.
  • Enhanced audio playback quality.
  • Updated custom icon packs.
  • Fixed some issues with notifications.
  • Improved camera quality/functionality.
  • Fixed some issues in Gallery.
  • Implemented latest Google security patches.
  • Fixed bugs in Clock/Music apps.

Apart from the sRGB mode that users prayed for a lot, the RAM and GPS have been given a fix too. While, little issues with Gallery app, notifications, camera, music app, clock app, etc. have been fixed too.

That’s not all. The audio playback should improve on 3.2.0, and there is also an update to custom icon pack. Last but not the least, the latest security patches from Google are also baked into the update.

Sure, this is a must-download update for OnePlus 3 users. Here are the goods.

Download OnePlus 3 OxygenOS 3.2.0 update

To install, you need to transfer the update file (Full ROM/OTA) to device’s internal storage and then reboot into recovery mode and choose Install menu. It’s that simple. It’s good to have OnePlus 3’s own stock recovery, than TWRP.

fix bootloop issue nexus devices

If you run into bootloop issue after installing the OTA on your Nexus device, then here is a quick solution to fix the problem in the matter of minutes.

Note: This guide if for Nexus devices, but you can fix bootloop issue on any device by install a firmware for that particular device, just be sure to first confirm the model no. of your device for compatibility with the firmware. The process below, though, also covers updating to latest update using the OTA file provided by Google.

Basically, by acknowledging the issue, you just told us that you were using TWRP recovery (or another alike) and didn’t have the stock recovery installed — because that is exactly why the device is unable to boot after the OTA update — which is Android Nougat developer preview 5, most probably.

Well, to fix this, all you have to do is install stock recovery back, and then go ahead and install the update. Yes, you can flash the entire factory image, and things will get back to work, but installing recovery is all you need before installing the update itself — and is much faster too.

Here’s a guide, because it looks more convenient.

How to fix Nexus bootloop issue

Step 1. Get stock recovery — just download the factory image for your device from Google’s own page here: Android Nougat | Android Marshmallow. It contains stock recovery.

If the OS currently installed on your device is Marshmallow, then download the Marshmallow factory image. And if it’s Nougat, then download the Nougat developer preview.

Try to download the build that is currently installed on your device, otherwise go for the one before the latest one.

Step 2. Also download the OTA file of the update that you were looking to install, from here: Android MarshmallowAndroid Nougat Developer Preview

Step 3. Extract the factory image, and then extract again the resulting file (the big one) to get stock recovery. We’re looking for the recovery.img file.

Step 4. Install the stock recovery using fastboot.

Boot the device into fastboot mode, and then run this command ‘fastboot flash recovery recovery.img‘ to flash the stock recovery. For help, check this page, which tells you how to install the whole of factory image through ADB using fastboot commands.

Step 5. Now, with device still in bootloader mode, run the adb sideload command to install the OTA update.

Make sure you keep the OTA file in the same directory that is being shown in the command window, or that command window is pointing to the directory where you have the OTA update file. Then run the following command.

adb sideload ota-update-file.zip

Wait till the process is finished.

Step 5. When done, reboot the device using ‘fastboot reboot’ command.

That’s it. If there is still any issue left, sure tell us about it in comments section below. We’ll do our best to help you out.
